czsmith
I'm an old computer hand, but new to x86 on Intel, so please be kind... (I did search, but key terms like 845 and EVO are all too short for insanelymac.com) I've successfully installed 10.4.8 (Jas) on an HP Evo D510 (Small Form Factor PC). Required typical tweeks for network and audio. Running 10.4.8 quite successfully with stock VGA drivers. I created a new partition and have tried installing the minimal Kalyway 10.4.10 (Intel SSE3) patched with V1.1 AMD & SSE2. Installed with no problem. Upon reboot (and all boots after that), I see my BIOS message about booting from the HD and then a single "j" appears on the screen and the machine locks. No disk activity. Cannot press F8 beforehand. I have tried this with and without the Intel drivers (900/950 I presume). I also tried installing uphuck's 10.4.9 v1.4i r3. Again, with the minimal install, I get the exact same results. Always a single "j" and a solid lock. Given how it locks up so quickly before even the 2nd character is displayed, I'm betting it's a problem with the display driver. Does anyone have any ideas? mcb208
I'm have the exact same system as you. I had to go with the external hard drive install method as mine only has a cd drive. It loaded up ok. Safari, spotlight, and search are completely unusable. And my clock says Jesus is still alive. No sound yet but apparently it is supportted. the onboard video is not. I have the p4 2 gig and with 512 it was really sluggish. I threw another 256 i picked up for 5 bucks and it speed things up great. It's networked with my imac and were having losts of fun with it. I am going to try to pick up an old 4 agp card somewhere if I can find one so get better resolution and perhaps enable quartz. You model is quite a step up from mine so I would consider trying one of the new snowloepord ISO's out there or the external HD method i used. Im sure you'll make it. The problem for me know is dual booting with ubutu, and sharing files between the FS. Im thinking of replacing the floppy with another HD that I will format fat32, which they can both read and write, and use it for all my non os specific data. cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/66265-104910-on-hp-evo-d510-w-intel-845-graphics-hangs-on-reboot/#findComment-1476307 Share on other sites

You might try iAtkos (10.5.4). Worked great for me.
