Hello all,

have got this real bad urge to install OSx86 on my PC..

Here's the config:

Intel Q6600 (cpuz screenie)

P5W DH Deluxe

3072MB DDR2 1066

DVD RW drive

7800GTX 256MB

80GB SATA HDD

I presently have Vista Ultmate x64 installed.

I have already got hold of a Uphuck 10.4.9 V1.3 DVD and wanted to try it out, now questions:

-Can i install this version on my config?

-What would be better native or dual boot?

-if dual boot, can i install OS X on a partion on the 80Gig?

-Will i find drivers for my video card? (I have a 1920x1200 Display, don't want to run any resolution non native)

-Will, by any chance, ethernet work?

Sorry for asking too many questions?

... But how do i take screenshots in here??
. . . quickest by far is: Command+Shift+4 [then click on desired start-corner & drag crosshair diagonally to give desired area]: will automatically put (first) snap to Desktop as 'Picture 1.png'

. . or 'Grab' [in Utilities], or the 'Grab' submenu in Preview, or there's a nice freeware wrapping for all this inbuilt functionality called 'SnapNDrag'

I have the exact same mobo, it rocks for cracking (so i've heard)! a E6600 cpu, and not a quad as you

but mine 10.4.9 installation doesn't work, using this guide: http://coolblog.profit42.com/2007/06/25/os...-boot-intelamd/ (Firefox only)

Problem occours (Uphuck 1.4i R2/R3, darwin verbose mode): http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/1174/dsc00039fi2.jpg

Do I have to get another release?

Is it even possible to reset all the mobo settings?

Thanks in advance.

. . Hi; with the link I provided in post6, plus a long & thorough P5W-DH thread, you should be able to get things sorted fine. Check out the posts which mention pre-install BIOS-settings.

@Shoarthing..

Which one is supposed to be the command key here? (I have a windows keyboard) tried win+shift+4 but didn't work.. or i didn't do it properly... anyway.. i'll look into finding the snapndrag utility..

@lizino

And yes this is not the best board for Overclocking Quads but i am presently running my G0 quad at 3.0 GHz at stock voltages, and didn't felt a board upgrade was necessary as of now, this should suffice for me for another coupel of months..

I followed this method and installed on a 10Gig partiton along with my vista x64, just follow the instruction there to the world and you'll be alright.

During installation i chose teh following options:

10.4.9 intel

SSE3-2

IOATA..patch

login window..patch

ACPI..patch

All VGA Drivers

ICH&-R

azalia audio

Jmicron

All application for system, mumtimedia and internet.

that's all.

I am having a hardtime reading stuff, infact everything seemstoo strong on the eye, the fonts are uncomfortable and blurry and screen too bright.. how do i adjust display settings?

and what all should i update?

Can i update to leopard?

. . . Can i update to leopard?
. . when [not a 'tomorrow' kind of when when] a finalised version of Leopard is released, then hacked, then patched, then re-released as an OSX86 install DVD . . . then probably yes, tho' 'updating' [to the same partition] is a relatively risky way of doing things & you'd want to have a full backup first.

Some folks are running hacked betas of Leopard on this or similar motherboards.

  • 1 month later...

I need some help people, recently i had to format my OS Disk fro some reasons and was only running Vista for a couple of weeks, but when i tried installing uphuck 10.4.9 from the same dvd install goes fine after selecting the same packages as last time but, this time, i get panic as soon as the grey boot up screen appears?!

Apart from adding another gig of RAM the only thing that have changed from last time is i have replaced my IDE DVD optical drive to a SATA drive?! could this be th reason?

Please help!!
