Bizz
First off, let me mention that I have installed OSx86 successfully before on a previous system I once had. Now I have an entirely different setup and I cannot get OSx86 to install on it. First off let me give you some specs: Athlon FX-62 Processor Asus M2N32-SLI Platinum 2GB Corsair DDR2-800 2x eVGA 7950 GX2 Video Cards C-Labs X-Fi Fatal1ty Sound Card (I know this wont work in OSx86, but it is part of my system) 6 Hard Drives: 4 SATA, 2 ATA133, I'll get into this below Plextor DVDRW Drive First off i'm trying to install a bootable OSx86 onto at least one of my hard drives, during the install all but the hard drive i'm trying to install it to are disconnected, there are 2 Hard Drives on my system which are blank and ready for an OSx86 install: - First one is a Maxtor 200GB PATA133, Primary Slave IDE bus - Second one is a 160GB Seagate SATA Drive hooked up the the SATA3 connection on my motherboard Now Ive tried a variety of different OSx86 images, heres the results i'm getting. JaS 10.4.8 DVD (this is the DVD that worked before on my previous system): - Wont install on the SATA Drive whatsoever, I get the Prohibitory sign upon loading the CD - Have not attempted with the 200GB PATA yet. - *update* I get the Prohibitionary sign no matter what hard drive I choose. Myzar 10.4.9 AMD SSE3 DVD: - Loads Painfully slow (almost 1 hour to get to the install screen) - Will detect my SATA Drive, I CAN format it, but on the Partitions Tab in Disk Utility, the "Options..." button is not there and I cannot set the partition to MBR. - Upon install on the SATA Drive, it immediately gets interrupted saying "Please try installling again" in which I must reboot. - in Disk Utility on my 200GB PATA Drive, it only shows up as 128GB, even though I recently FDISK'ed it and formatted it in DOS. - on the Partitions Tab in Disk Utility, the "Options..." button IS there and I CAN set the partition to MBR on the 200GB PATA. - it will proceed to install on the PATA without errors, but it will not boot OSx86, just get the black screen with the flashing underscore upon startup. Tubgirl "AMDVM" 10.4.10 SSE3 AMD: - from what Ive learned this release was intended to work with Virtual Machine only - almost the same exact problems with the Myzar disc, only difference is the "Options..." button in Disk Utility>Partition is not there with either drive. Kalyway 10.4.10 with v1.1 patched DVD: - Loads fairly quick - PATA Drive only shows up as 128GB, will install but not boot. - SATA Drive shows up but I cannot format it or change the partition at all, I get an infinite rainbow wheel if I even try. - Formatted and set the Partition to MBR on the SATA Drive using an external enclosure on my iBook G4, but upon installation it immediately gets interrupted saying "Please try installling again" in which I must reboot. So, to sum it up: - My 200GB PATA Drive shows up as 128GB no matter which DVD I choose. - On the PATA Drive, it will install on a couple DVDs, but upon reboot I get nothing but a blinking underscore. - My 160GB SATA Drive causes the install to crash on the DVDs that even recognize it. only release I have not tried (I cant find it anywhere using the "usual sites"), is the Tubgirl 10.4.10 AMD SSE3 version. I dont know of any other working AMD versions (Uphuck maybe?). Other things I have tried, but do not work: - I tried hooking up the SATA Drive to the SATA0 (Primary SATA) connection on my motherboard. - I tried hooking up the 200GB PATA to the Primary Master IDE Bus. My goal is to get a bootable 10.4.10 OSx86 installation to my SATA Drive if possible. Any suggestions? Bizz
can you set ur sata controller in bios to Ahci? There is no option in my BIOS to set my SATA controller to AHCI. Things I tried today: I tried formatting my SATA Drive using my external on my iBook G4, this time I used the Kalyway DVD. - Upon Install I immediately get "Please try installing again". - I try to reformat the SATA Drive using Disk Utility and it says it can not unmount disk. Also, I tried to just delete the partitions on both drives in FDISK, this time without formatting it to FAT32 before loading OSx86, and it didnt help it at all. Also tried the "Uphuck 10.4.9 1.4a" DVD, I'm getting the same exact results as the Kalyway disc.
