pc guy
I have OS X 10.4.1 on my Dell D610 laptop and got QE, CI enabled. After the patch, Itune is now working but DVD Player is not. I did a native 10.4.3 patched DVD install on a Dell GX620 and got everything working except the network card. The DVD Player.app on 10.4.3 (Get Info) shows that it's for Intel, PowerPC. Can this be copied to OS X 10.4.1? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6592-dvd-playerapp/ Share on other sites
thrunner
The DVD player from 10.4.3 doesn't even work properly on 10.4.3 kernel for a lot of setups. It is unlikely to work on 10.4.1. The Deadmoo image from 10.4.1 contains a DVD player but it doesn't work either. Your best bet for playing DVDs on 10.4.1 is to use the Videolan player. I was able to play several movies and the graphics came out smooth and clear. That was the reason why I wanted to port this version over the 10.4.1 I guess it's worth a try if someone knows how. pc guy
The DVD Player.app is located in Applications folder. I got it copied by taking out my laptop hard drive and put it in a USB adapter. I got the DVD app copied over and did a repair disk permissions. When I try to run the DVD app, I got an error "There was an initialization error. The player requires a newer version of the DVDPlayback framework [-70103] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6592-dvd-playerapp/#findComment-40896 Share on other sites
pc guy
To clarify the matter. The DVD app is located on my PC hard drive which was installed with OS X 10.4.3 (not the Install DVD). I copied the app by right click on DVD Player.app and choose Copy Item. Then paste it to the hard drive with OS X 10.4.1 in the Applications folder overwriting the old DVD App. It's apparent that I'm missing the framework components when I try to run this DVD app. The CLV player from the link above didn't really work for me. I have a greenish screen when playing movie and the pictures look like they were negative.
