mikesena
Hi, I took ages to get a DVD of osx (patched) and my stupid dvd drive decides it doesn't want to read it. I want to use GRUB or LILO (preferably grub) and boot the iso. I know this cannot be done, so what I want to actually do, is extract the files from the disk, create a disk partition and make grub boot from here. I did this, but I have no idea how to configure grub. Can someone please help me, i've been searching all day on how to boot from the iso, from iso extracted and i know booting from an extracted iso is possible, i just needc to know how. I see the chain0 file (apparantly that's used in mac or something) in the iso file and can extract that, amongst the other files of course. Can someone PLEASE help me, i've been trying to get this working for sometime. I've tried all roads with the dvd hardware itself btw, so there's no more solutions there. Please someone help! mikesena
Yes that is a possibility, but I'm not able to do that at the moment. I will in a month or two. Can someone else please tell me how I can boot off the hard disk? ~pcwiz
Its easy, connect it to a desktop and install it. Then plug it back into your laptop, configure your laptop BIOS to boot from the OS X hard drive and restart... mikesena
I can't... the reason is because I am still under warranty for a month or so, and there is a protective cover over the drive. I will be happy to later, but at this stage, and also seeing i've had an issue or two in the past where the warranty proved handy, i don't want to open it. Anyone else know how I can do this? It doesn't seem to me like it should be that hard, just loading a CD, only the contents are extracted. Anyone?
