Yaniv Ragasaydiv Posted September 25, 2007 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Hey Guys, I'm a nOOb here.. And I was basically blown away that a PC could finally run OS X... So I decided to give it a shot. I basically did a lil research and ended up downloading Jas' 10.4.8 INTEL/AMD SSE2 SSE3 WITH PPF1 & PPF2. Since I didnt want to risk makin a hash of everything I actually tried the whole thing on VM Ware 6.0 and it worked like a charm in the first installation itself. So I decided to go native. I did excpect my attempt at native installation to give me errors but the whole installation too went on smoothly withot an issue. I followed the guides to the letter and all was good. However, upon restarting just after installation to boot the actual system, the whole "You have to restart the system" error a.k.a a Kernel Panic occurs. I did a -v for verbose and the boot process always hangs at this one point giving the following error. "localhost mDNSResponder: Couldn't read user-specified local hostname; using default “Macintosh-000000000000.local” instead" of course i tried pulling out al the usb connections.. and various other things.. no luck when i switch off the ethernet card, the process gives an additional error mesage after the previous one saying "cannot lookup child" i tried -f for regeneration ext -s for single user mode (im just stuck at a bash command shell not knowing what to do..im familiar with ubuntu terninal shell whatever it is under but lost here) i even booted from dvd and got to disk utility verified disk permissions... checked and corrected etc etc.. still no luck.. as you can see im basically at my wits end here wondering what I have to do.. Please do help me with this I dunno what I have to do I really want to get this to work i know u feel my pain.. My Specs Below.. AMD64 3000+ (939 - VENICE) (OCED - 2.4 GHZ - 270*9 MULTIPLIER) ASROCK DUAL SATAII (ULI M1695 CHIPSET) CORSAIR VS512*2 (1GB DDR400 - DUAL CHANNEL MODE) NVIDIA GEFORCE 2 MX 400 ( I KNOW DAMN OUTDATED) SEAGATE BARRACUDA 40GB 7200.9 IDE (PRIMARY MASTER) SEAGATE BARACUDE 80 GB 7200.9 IDE (PRIMARY SLAVE) SONY DVD-RW (SECONDARY MASTER) LG DVD COMBO (SECONDARY SLAVE) CREATIVE AUDIGY 2ZS CREATIVE SB700S 7.1 MICROSOFT INTELLI MOUSE 2.0 (USB-WIRELESS) LOGITECH STANDARD KEYBOARD NOTE: ETHERNET CARD IS ONBOARD (ULI) DSL MODEM CONNECTED.
