install freezes

can install it using VMware but it's extemely slow can't play sound or video files(extreme stuttering) (I hear sound and I can even surf on the net with my wireless internet)

So I tried a normal install but I'm having problems with SATA (can't find my harddrive) and it's a laptop so that's a problem

I tried connecting a usb harddrive and and the mac installation can find the drive so I formatted it correctly and installed it, but after a while the installer freezes and the screen says: "writing package receipt" time remaining 18 minutes (this occurs after "copying files" is 100% )

I use: JaS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3.Defiant diskutil fix.iso

I tried another image (10,4,10)

and the same thing happens again

the screen says: Installing base system part 1

Writing package receipt

 

last 3 log entries (no errors):

run postinstall script for base system part 1

performing post-extraction actions

assembling receipt

 

i can move my mouse and open the menus and stuff but the installer just won't continue

 

i hope somewone knows how i can continue

Does your image have the PPF1 & 2 patches? I think that image fixed some sata problems.

yes it's ppf 1 and ppf2 patched

I heard there were a lot of problems with SATA during install but the installere find my usb drive so I think that solved a problem

 

I'll try the vmware to native install

yes the installer finds the drive (not the SATA one but the usb one)

 

i tried installing using vmware but when the installation was complete (it installed apparently) i get "non system disk error (in vmware)

i didn't try to really reboot my pc

but maybe i got an option wrong cuz u need to change something when u want to make changes to the harddisk permenantly
