mr.madison
Ok well I just did the OSX 10.4.9 uphuck version on my PC. Its a gateway Dual Core.. dont know the specifics as I having probs and cant pull it up. But its Model GT4024. I check before hand and its a SSE3 supporter. Processor BrandIntel Processor ClassPentium D Processor Speed2.66 GHz Installed Memory1 GB Bus Speed533 MHz Cache Size2 MB Memory TechnologyDDR II SDRAM Maximum Memory2 GB Number of Installed Processors1 Maximum Number of Processors1 System ChipsetATI Radeon Xpress 200 Well let me start off and say I had a problem doing the Partitioning as described here http://coolblog.profit42.com/2006/05/13/os...ndows-computer/ I used this version because I plan to dual boot with XP. What I did do was partition 30gigs on my C: and formated using disk partition to a fat32 primary and I made it active. Now when I went to the install on 10.4.9 There were no drives found. So i used the disk utility and erased and used one of the mac formats and it had ms-dos selected as default but it did not add a drive for me to install to. Well the install went fine.. i think.. and It rebooted and now im getting this error going to OSX "On ACPICPUthrottle when adding cpu 0 ,1,2,3(it did these all separate) They fail. No Valid cpu's returned by acpi! it's possible your bios does not think your system should be throttled and therefore did not return any available power states, or maybe your cpu only supports other state then maximum" The when i try to boot to windows.. its says "windows root>system32\hal.dll missing reinstall" So right now im kinda stuck and I dont know what to do. Any help would be great.. and if you need more info I can do my best. Thanks! mr.madison
any idea or help in any way guys? I actually went back in on the OSX install and reformatted that partition to try and get into my xp. But now it boots and says no OS found.. and then when i try and load from the xp install i have it wont start an install process. It seems the N: that was set for the osx partition has not renamed itself c: and now it looks like my old c: is gone??? but i have done anything else so im hoping i can still recover?? but i dont know how to get in and do that. any ideas or help would be great. I do know I have a 4 gig partition on that same drive that suppose to be backing up that was set up from the factory?? any help is much appreciated.. this is my work machine and im now kind of stuck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64175-major-osx86-install-woes-thanks-in-advanceplease-help/#findComment-455016 Share on other sites
shoarthing
. . . .this is my work machine and im now kind of stuck . . hmmm: splendid use of understatement. Did you 'shrink' your original XP install partition using, say, 'Partition Magic' - after of course defragging it - to make space for a partition for an OSX install? . . if not, it is a little unclear as to how on earth you expect to access your XP install after repartitioning the drive to which it was installed. I assume you made backups to optical media/external storage of all your important data - yes? . . if not, things will be tricky; but not hopeless. You will [probably] need a 2.5" HDD adapter: it seems likely that your first priority is to attach this HDD to a working machine & attempt partition/data recovery. Not sure what you mean by that? This is a 250 gig hd. I partitioned while in xp with everything working. I made a 30 gig partition. Made it fat32 and made it primary.. there was no prob with the partition, as well its just a partition my extra hd has 10 partitions and never had a problem. Now when i booted into OSX and started the install process.. when it was looking for the location to install it, it found no drives. So i saw a post that said try to use the disk utility program in the osx setup to format the hard drive. So i did that.. the drive showed up. I installed it on the 30 gig partition and then i had the above problem in my original post. when it went to the section for me to choose my os and i tried to go to xp i got the above error. So then i went back in the osx setup.. went to disk utility to format that 30 gig partition again so maybe, with that gone i can get into xp. Well then it said no os found. I popped in my xp install disk went to the setup when it shows my hd partitions. When looking at the partitions the N: which was the osx drive is now named the c:the n: is now my xp c: and when you look at space and available space the numbers look the same.. so it seems that my data on my "real" c: the xp ons are gone.. but i never deleted that nor formated that drive or at least intentionally. hope this makes it a little clearer.
