vic21
Hey guys, I bought a fully loaded hp 6500t laptop that comes with the 2.2 ghz santa rosa processer (intel t7500), 160 gb hard drive and an nvidia geforce 8400m gs. I also have the intel wireless wifi link 4965 agn adapter with bluetooth. 1) I am wondering what the best osx86 hacked installation for my laptop would be (i already downloaded uphucks 10.4.9 v1.4i r3, but iv also seen other versions including kalyway leapord installer; the new mac os , and also Tubgirl 10.4.10... i dont mind downloading again if another intallation is better) and 2) how much should should I set the partition for the mac os? ( it says at least 6 gigs, but what is the recommended size?; lets say i do 6 gigs, does that mean I am only limited to 6 gigs when running the mac os and if i wanted to download files, i have very little space to save them to? ....thanks in advance! vic21
i went ahead with uphuck, but its not detecting the partition i created....i used acronis to create the partition (40 gb) and deleted the volume to make it unallocated space....I then followed the instructions; 4. Hit WINDOWS BUTTON + R and type ‘diskpart’ (without quotes) 5. Type in (press enter after you typed in a line): list disk select disk [the number of your disk] create partition primary id=af list partition select partition [the number of your new osx partition] active (if this doesn’t work, try ’set active’ without quotes) and it worked, but when i am booting from uphucks dvd and i get up to the screen where to install the image , it shows nothing except the dvd drive??? can anybody help me as to what to do to make it recognize the partition Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64116-helpbest-osx86-installation-for-dv6500t/#findComment-454319 Share on other sites
vic21
i give up, ive tried everything and the xxxxxxxx osx86 will only detect the dvd drive and not the disk drive at all.....i have no idea what the problem is...maybe its because hp uses a new hard drive in the newer 6500t models that the mac os isnt compatible with, but screw this......its back to windows for me Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64116-helpbest-osx86-installation-for-dv6500t/#findComment-454544 Share on other sites
youngi
from my tries, u cannot install into a partition that is unallocated space...after u get it unallocated format to NTFS, then from the DVD you can get it erased with Journal format in disk utility. that's from what i remember Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64116-helpbest-osx86-installation-for-dv6500t/#findComment-454613 Share on other sites
blesafho
i think osx don't have sata driver, so it can't detect your hard disk can you install fedora7? musicbomber
Hello, I have a dv2500 with the same specs and found a way to install osx86 uphuck. The diference is that my hard drive IS recognized but not shown when the installer asks where you want to install osx86. In order to continue with the installation: 1. Follow all the partition steps on the guide. When you boot the osx86 install, go to "Utilities->Disk Utility". 2. After the tool opens, there should be a Disk and Partition list on the left side of the window. Select the partition you created in Windows. 3. Click on the "Erase" tab on the right. 4. At this point, you should see an "Erase" button. Click it. 5. After this, you can close the Utility and you should now be able to select the partition to install osx86. After installing, I haven't been able to get the network working. Please, if somebody knows what to do to make it work, post it ASAP. I am a newbie and don't know much about drivers in OsX86 for santa rosa. I have the Intel 4965AGN too and a marvell ethernet card. Good luck with your install My first post! vic21
I just also verified that the uphuck will NOT recognize my drive...so the uphuck is out of the window, and I've tried reinstalling the Jas twice, and in both cases it recognized the drive formated it, installed mac on it, but when it starts to load, it asks to restart the computer which I am thinking is probaly the "kernal panic" that people keep talking about it....is there any way to get around this problem.??...in the mean time, are there any other (updated) distros that might work which I can start downloading and test? dscrap
I also have a DV6500t and I just installed the Jas 10.4.8 OSX and it recognized my HD right away. I did make a new partition using the disk tool though and the hd was blank to start with. Anyone able to get the 8400M GS working? If so, how did you do it? Other things not working... 1. Audio - realtek hd audio 2. Intel Wireless 4965AGN 3. NIC - Realtek RTL8101, not sure if this works or not. I didn't try it. 4. Driver for the touchpad? Any help would be appreciated...
