llamahead
This is a continuation of this thread. That thread was so off the original topic, I decided to start another. So, pcwiz concluded that I'm having an issue with my ethernet card. First of all, I just want to confirm the 'diagnosis'. Here are the suspicious lines: localhost mDNSResponder-108.4: starting localhost DirectoryService: Launched Version 2.1 localhost kextd[25]: kextd_watch_volumes: couldn't setup diskarb sessions. com_triton_forcedeth: Ethernet address 00:19:db:24:8e:77 localhost configd[51]: No AirPort driver found. localhost /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow: Login Window Application Started. localhost mDNSResponder: couldn't read user-specified Computer Name: using default instead. localhost mDNSResponder: couldn't read user-specified local hostname: using default instead. localhost mDNSResponder: Adding browse domain local So, I decided to disable the onboard LAN via the BIOS. I checked in Ubuntu, and Ubuntu could not longer detect the onboard LAN. I also took out my wireless PCI adapter and tried reinstalling the Uphuck 10.4.9 Universal disk. I checked 'System Profiler' before installing, and it did say a few things about an on-board ethernet. I thought that was odd, but decided to continue wth the install. After booting, I got the same above messages. So, my problem is that boot halts with those messages above. Any ideas? (pcwiz recommended I download the tubgirl AMD disk, but I'd rather not download another disk right now.) So my ideas were: 1. Are there some kexts I can delete via Ubuntu that may be causing the problem? 2. Is there a way to boot without networking? (Like safe mode without networking in Windows?) Thanks in advance! Filipe Tolhuizen
I'm getting the same error as you that keeps me from booting too. But in my case I need networking. If you discover how to get this working please tell me so.
