minnie
Hi All, Does anyone know why I can't get any of the available intel sse3 only kernels to run on this cpu? It says it supports sse3 but only sse2 enabled kernels will work on it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63481-e4400-core2duo/ Share on other sites
zam
I'm guessing here but it could be the HPET that is not working, because I have understood that HPET support depends on the motherboard chipset. SSE3 kernels usually need also HPET, and SSE2 do not. What is that "ASRock 4CoreQuad" motherboard, I could not find that on the Asrock homepage? If you mean "4CoreDual-SATA2", it's really not Mac OS optimal board as it has the VIA chipset... minnie
Thanks for the reply Zam. Well I'm glad you said that, I was beginning to have these thoughts myself. Yep, sorry 4CoreDual-VSTA actually, and it doesn't suprise me that HPET may not be working, it has HPET table 'Enable' option in bios but the board doesn't have any Speedstep options, leading me to think it's designed more as a board to test components on. Might be time to get a BadAxe2..... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63481-e4400-core2duo/#findComment-449869 Share on other sites
