hey guys, i bring you a thread not laden with troubleshooting issues and impossible driver problems! instead, i bring you with a plea for help:

I need to build a mid-grade computer that is completley(or easily patchable) compatible with OSx86. i've been looking through the osx86 wikiproject, but to be honest, i just don't know what to do. im looking for something in the $400-600 range, and any hardware combination is acceptable, but the one requirement is a decent cpu and a decent video card(that comes with the price i guess)

if anybody would like to help me with this, even if its just suggesting good, newer componenets that work well with hackintosh(like, dualcore ready motherboards or something), it would be extremely helpful.

thanks in advance for the help!

Asus P5B Deluxe [or another P35 based mobo]

Core 2 Duo E6600 [ore Core 2 Duo E6750] or AMDx2 5300+

2GB DDR2 RAM, speed is negligable unless you overclock [667mhz or 800mhz]

250gb Samsung HDD, SATA 3.0gb/s is best right now

Lite-On DVD burner, SATA as well

3x Nexus 120mm fans for exhaust, intake and CPU

---------

Antec Solo [if mATX motherboard]

or

Antec P182 [if ATX motherboard

---------

ATi X1950 PCI-e [if you want ATi

or

nVidia 8600GT [if you want nVidia] <-gigabyte is best if you can't get nVidia directly

---------

Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme as heatsink [better than stock]

or

Scythe Ninja [if you don't want the Thermalright [don't get both, pick one]

---------

how's that look to you?

if you don't want stock cooling on the graphics card, look into the Thermalright HR-03, and a single Nexus 92mm fan to use on it. if you're willing to squeeze the budget, get some Zalman fan mates for all the fans so you can easily undervolt them all to ~7v.

prices depend on where you buy the parts + rebates etc, so i'll leave that to your preference.

personal suggestion would be to look into Crucial Ballistics RAM if you have the money, possibly some of the best RAM you'll ever use. this isn't a copy of my computer, but a computer that you'll love using. my budget was way too tight to get something like this.
