Ok...ive been fumbling through all the AC97 information and ive tried I think just about everything to get it to work...I've got a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop with the Intel 915g chipset gma900 Celeron-M 1.3ghz. I guess the version of osx86 I had didn't come with AppleAC97Audio.kext...so i copied it from the darwin cd I downloaded from apple. I've played with the permissions and changed the vendor ID stuff in the Info.plist file and I am only getting:

16IOAC97AudioCodec is not compatable with its superclass, 9IOServices superclass changed?

kextload: a link/load error occured for kernel extension AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext

load failed for extension AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext

this is when i try to "kextload AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext" from /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/Plugins/

I am running 10.4.3

On a side note...anyone know how to reduce the amount of video ram OSX uses for the gma900 chipset? It says its chewing up 256megs of my 512megs of ram(shared). And I cannot alter it in the bios. In fact the bios says its only using 8megs of memory. When booted into XP it says its using 64megs. I'd like to be able to bring it down to 64megs if at all possible! Im running a resolution of 1280x800x32. Thankyou!
