I'm curious as to whether anyone else has had this problem. I've searched for similar usb-drive issues and d/bay issues on the forums and wiki, but came up with zilch. Mine isn't a particularly exotic setup, so I thought I'd post a thread and see what materializes.

I used the Profit42 guide for the uphuck 4.9 dvd on SSE2, and received the following error and a freeze-up when booting.

USBF: 74.9BB The IOUSBFamily was not able to enumerate a device.

Again, the machine is a Dell Latitude d400. It uses an Intel Pentium M (Banias) processor, and does have SSE2 support. The issue is the D/Bay drive which is essentially a USB 2.0 enclosure with a swappable dvd/cd-r in it. The model # for the bay is PD01s, Rev A05. The drive in it is 8W007-A01.

I completely understand if there's no way to get OSX onto this machine, but I'd rather not give up in vain. If the only thing you have to say is that you've run into a similar roadblock, I still really appreciate your input.

I have a D400. You can just use a USB external DVD drive. However, once you get it installed it is not compatible with 855GM video chipset which means you will only get 8bit color depth. Don't even waste your time... I've been trying to get it to work for a long time
