kjnnz
Hi all, I recently built a new machine in hopes I would be able to run OS X (I previously was running OS X on a Sempron 64 a few years back). I have tried a couple different OS X images (JaS 10.4.6 I believe, and Tubgirl 10.4.10) and while I am able to install them both fine, I can not boot either one. Installation goes fine (it takes a long time to initially start the installation, but I get the gray apple screen, and the full GUI installation). My SATA drive does not show up, so I install it onto an regular IDE drive. When using the tubgirl image, and I attempt to boot OS X up, I get the Darwin screen, and everything starts to boot. I never see the familiar gray Apple screen, instead I see all of the boot processes, etc. Eventually it will say it found my nVidia card, then it will say Titan: All set! Cross your fingers! Followed by a couple of lines stating "kextd[24] diskarb isn't ready yet. We'll try again soon." and "couldn't set up diskarb". Then I will either get a blank screen or a black screen with a bunch of white lines on it. When using the JaS image, I don't get the gray Apple screen, but after a while I get the "Restart your computer" gray screen. Any idea of what's preventing me from seeing my desktop? I mean if the installer works, why can't I get to the desktop? Any startup options I can try? My system; AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Brisbane Biostar TF7025-m2 Geforce 7025 / NF630a chipset Thanks in advance for any help / suggestions. Chilla
I get the same problem, however, I am very new to this whole 'hackintosh' thing. I'm running on a low-end box. Celeron 1.7GHz (With SSE2) 1gb RAM Radeon 9550 256mb Not sure on motherboard but it boots up in to the installer fine. I just end up with white lines on a black screen like a barcode at the end. Any suggestions? Reveeen
Chilla: A Radeon 9550 is not supported. It has been suggested that you would flash your 9550 with a 9600 bios, then use a 9600 driver, or don't install any driver defaulting, to Vesa mode, or install a video card that is supported. Driver list here: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/3rdPartyDrivers When confronted with a similar situation I decided to use a FX5200 (Nvidia) video card that IS supported (and under $50).
