couldn't have been any simpler. does that mean mac file system isn't very complicated?

i'm not comparing here but as you all know in windows when you install an application, some parts go to certain folders and the most bothering ones are probably the shared app folder where when the uninstallation part always asked about whether to remove the files "no longer needed" by the app but deleting them will probably affect the other apps.

it really is as simple as that huh?

Often, applications have everything they need contained in their package and dynamically link to various libraries. This is why Firefox is 23MB but shown as a single icon - internally, it has everything as with the other ports, for example. A lot of the time, software installers will just install a few program packages and then some dynamic libraries, but again, it's the same amount of stuff installed as versions of that software for other OSes.

The problem is, Lib files, in windows u have add/remove prog.. in linux rpm -e to uninstall rpms or YAST in SUSE linux. But here, Deleting files just like that.. is not gud. the .pkg (BSD/Solaris) pkgadd or pkgrm comma nd. Iam worried if the OS gets corrupted.. :D

Hi

How to remove applications on 10.4.1, ?

and how to activate root account without using sudo command

Hi my friend, how are you ?. I'm glad that you finally are in the forum. About of how to log in as root without sudo, here's an step by step guide for you:

How to log-in as root:

You need to do it from /Applications/Utilities/NetInfo Manager tool. This tool allows us to access at all system's users.

To enable the root user, you must to open the NetInfo Manager app, from that path that i told you. look for "Security -> Authenticate..." menu option (you must to type your current password there) and hit "Enable Root User" option. Write a password for this user, this should have to be different to all others passwords.

After of this, click over "Log Out" in the apple's menu (the last one option), your session will be closed, then when you log in again, in the users window, you must to click over "Other..." (look for this option there), there you'll write root (in user field) and type the password (that you did assign to the root, previously). Then you're now root ! ;):D.
