Hello there, not sure if this is a software or hardware issue, so i mposted it here anyway :

Alright, so I installed OSX86 using the Dedmoo image (10.4.1) onto a partition. It works fine, at a reason able speed. But this is regardless of my problem, just building a picture. Ohh, it's a Dell c640 laptop, 512mb ram, p4 with hyper threading etc etc.

So anyway, I can use the Fn (function) key to turn down the volume and sleep and stuff, but if I do put it to sleep then it just freezes and if I turn the brightness up or down, it just freezes, and the only way that I can make it work again is by presseing the power switch?! Which I think is quite odd, and then it just carries on as normal, until I use the fn key again.....So, the fn key works for volume and also switching between CRT/LCD, but makes the whole system freeze up for brightness and sleep.

So, I kind of gathered that this had something to do with ACPI. Well, youre probably thinking, why doesnt he just switch to to the x86 platform thingy at startup...well, good point. But since this is a laptop and the whole thing with laptops is that they run on batteries, im hardly going to go from the ACPI platform that gives me 6+ hours to the x86 normal PC one that gives me about two hours since it uses the processor at full speed....

so, do you see my dilema here? Sorry if its long but I thought I'd explain because it saves posting so much later on. lol.
