Noobie to OSX and ALC655

HI,

 

I'm playing around trying to setup a project machine and I'm having issues with sound, everything else seems to be working ok.  I've searched the forums and the web for a solution but nothing seems to work, I've installed several packages for drivers and run terminal scripts to register files but I'm not getting very far, basically OSX isnt recognising that the machine has a sound card.

 

Its a biostar MB with ALC655 AC97 sound http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en-us/mb/content.php?S_ID=78

ICH7 chipset

a E6600 CPU

SATA HDD

 

The lan worked out of the box but I could do with sound then I can start using it .
