Inspiron 8500 hangs on boot

Hello,

I installed both uphucks v1.3 and v1.4 dvd are v10.4.9 and I get the same result. The laptop is a dell inspiron 8500. When I boot it hangs on this message:

 

"using 2621 buffer headers and 2621 cluster IO buffer headers"

 

No error, no kernel panic, just nothing it sits there and turns the laptop into a nice heating pad.

Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
