I hope that someone here will be knowledgeable enough and willin to help me. I have two computers in my home. One of the them is a Windows XP MCE PC and the other is a great iMac with Tiger on it. I own a Lexmark x1185 all-in-one printer that is attached and shared from the Windows XP machine. I cannot get the iMac to print to it. I can see it under the Windows Machine and can add it to my list of installed printers, but when I send to it the printer kicks on but nothing comes out of it.

Has anyone else had similar problems? I found a guide on the internet that suggests setting up a Redirect and tried it but that didn't work. I have also tried using a Netgear Print Server and that didn't work either.

If anyone has any ideas or tips please let me know!

Thanks!

You will have to use this command smb://[login]:[password]@[iP address or server name]/[printer name] when you try to connect the device over the network, if you dont enter the password it will ask you for it when its starts to connect to it. When you open the print manager use Connect to a windows printer using Samba, or use the windows drop down then below that select he domain/workgroup that the windows machine is in. I have to use it to connect to my Brother HL 1240 which runs as a HP LJ II+, which brings me to another point in that it took me a little searching around on the internet and testing drivers to get the right one unless you happen to be lucky and OS X has your driver already :(
