Hardware comments: MSI RS482-IL ATI X300 SE AMD 3000 SSE2

I have had good luck with installing uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3i on my Compaq C551NR laptop. So I tried booting my desktop with it. But it didn't boot so I downloaded the AMD version of the same DVD and gave it a go. It boots very slowly so I was wondering if that is due to the lack of SSE3. If that is how it is going to run then I probably will not even bother. Here is my hardware:

Motherboard: MSI RS482-IL

Video: ATI X300 SE PCI-e (Onboard ATI X200 is disabled)

Memory: 1.5 Gig

Processor: AMD 3000+ (SSE2. No SSE3)

Anyone having experience with any of these components, can you please share your experience?

My HDD is low on space (20/160) so shrinking windows and partitioning seems like a lost cause. I am thinking about buying a new larger HDD and dual booting with OSX. If it is going to run so slow, then I will not bother.
