Veneco
Hello, So I installed uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3 on my slave HD, and I have Kubuntu and Win Xp on my master Hd, I have tried different things that I google and done some search here too, but cannot get my computer to let me boot my second HD, Kubuntu comes already with GRUB but it does not recognize the new OS. I tried to edit the menu.lst of GRUB but it's not letting me do it. I did make sure that my computer was able to find the HD (well at least the BIOS did), but cannot get it to boot from it. My computer specs: Windows Xp and Kubuntu (1 HD Ultra ATA) 20 GB Ultra ATA (slave HD) Intel Celeron D 330 2.66 Ghz (256 L2 cache, no Hyper-Threading, SSE3) 1 Gb Memory DDR SDRAM Chipset: Intel® 845GV Chipset Video: Intel® Extreme Graphics controller Audio: Audio subsystem for AC '97 processing using the Realtek ALC202A codec I did the install of uphuck and saw no problems, but can really check it because I can't boot it. I'll be trying again to just boot the computer with just the new HD as the master, I just reinstalled completely uphuck. Thank you for your time, NOTE: I can perfectly use Win XP and Kubuntu, with no problems. Fencer
i'm in the same boat. I've got Suse and WinXP dual-booting fine, and I tried to install 10.4.6 to a totally new hd, BUT... I can't boot it, no matter what I try. i've tried to modify grub and the windows bootloader any number of ways, but I get nothing. the farthest I got was a screen saying 'starting stage2' ... and it froze there. Veneco
i'm in the same boat. Ok, I finally got it working. I used Jas 10.4.8 SSE2 SSE3 PPF1-2 and update 10.4.9 Steps: 1. Only plug the HD that you are going to use for the Mac OS X (as Master) 2. Install the software, and try it out 2-3 times to see that it works good 3. Now that everything is working properly, plug back in the other HD as master and the Mac Hd as slave 4. If when the GRUB comes on, and you can't select the slave Hd, go to Linux 5. Go to Grub folder, and you have to open the Boot.lst 6. Go all the way to the end, copy and paste: title Mac OS X root (hd1,0) savedefault makeactive map (hd0) (hd1) map (hd1) (hd0) chainloader +1 And remember that you should add a comment to remind you. Note: Linux and/or Windows might get stuck or slow the first time you boot after the change. And linux might look strange. I'm using Kubuntu. Good luck Update: Actually you might have to re-install linux. It started giving me problems. I'm actually working on it right now. Will update later Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60631-booting-problem/#findComment-433456 Share on other sites
