Install stops at Initialization screen

Attached is the screen that I get when I boot from the OS X 10.4.8 DVD. I get up to that certain point, but then my DVD drive activity stops and my cursor just stays at the bottom of the screen

 

 

 

My computer is:

 

ASUS P5NSLI motherboard

Intel C2D e6600

1GB PC2 5300 RAM

120 GB sata hdd

x800xl

 

also, the files that i'm using are:

 

Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2]

and

JaS.10.4.9.Combo.Update.Intel.SSE3

 

any help is appreciated
