My current XP is in need of a clean wipe, so I thought I would give OS X a try... I'm installing PearPC right now, so it should be done soon. Is there a way that I can say make a partition on my external drive, then wipe the notebook clean and copy that partition over and then use partitionmagic and extend the partition with OS X on it to the whole drive? It shoulds like it should work, but you never know... I can't wipe my entire external HD out since it has all my music and stuff and there isn't enough room for it anywhere else.

What kind of external drive you have, an USB ?. If your external HD is USB, i'd recommend you don't try it, because is a real pain to your brain. This version(s) of osx86 wasn't designed for USB HD. Try to rearrange your master HD (internal HD) for to place the new osx86 partition, how to do it ?, using Partition Magic 8, by example.
