hi, i have a hp dv5237cl laptop that has intel centrino duo 1.8GHz cpu. i checked system profiler and it indicates the processor has SSE2 support but not SSE3. i know i installed sse3 during installation. why it's not showing it in the profiler? is it going to affect system performance a lot? i'm running Jas OSx 10.4.7. thanks.

thanks Mousse-t for your reply.

i tried sysctl -a | grep machdep.cpu.features, and here's the output from the terminal:

kern.exec: unknown type returned

machdep.cpu.features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM EST

again, i don't see SSE3 in the listing.

i also went to the system profiler patch page. i don't think it's a problem with my system profiler though, i would guess it's a problem with the system itself.

any more ideas?

i checked it in vista, using cpu-z, and here's a detailed tech spec:

Processor(s)

Number of cores 2 per processor

Number of threads 2 (max 2) per processor

Name Intel Core Duo T2400

Code Name Yonah

Specification Genuine Intel® CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz

Package Socket 479 mPGA

Family/Model/Stepping 6.E.8

Extended Family/Model 6.E

Core Stepping C0

Technology 65 nm

Core Speed 1828.7 MHz

Multiplier x Bus speed 11.0 x 166.2 MHz

Rated Bus speed 665.0 MHz

Stock frequency 1833 MHz

Instruction sets MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3

L1 Data cache 2 x 32 KBytes, 8-way set associative, 64-byte line size

L1 Instruction cache 2 x 32 KBytes, 8-way set associative, 64-byte line size

L2 cache 2048 KBytes, 8-way set associative, 64-byte line size

so i'm sure my cpu has SSE3 support.
