marcianicoazul
Hi, First of all sorry about my english. I have a macbook pro (15inch LED display + 2.4Ghz + 2GB RAM + nvidia GF 8600GT) and I have a very strange problem with my graphic card, and is something with the hardware or a EFI firmware failure cause I can't boot correctly from my installation CD nor my system hard disk. The problem started when I did a color calibration of an external DVI-D monitor through boot camp in windows XP. I was using "Natural color" software, provided with my samsung monitor and when I finished the calibration, suddenly my mbp display switched off. I decided to restart in windows but when I chose winxp in bootcamp, It didn't boot. So I chose mac OS and it booted but with display problems: in my external display everything is shown correctly but in my mbp I can't see my mouse nor a part of my desktop. IMAGE: http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/8311/dsc00975yw8.jpg When I go to display preferences I can change resolution, but it makes strange artifacts in the mbp display and I can't set a desktop configuration (it don`t detect the mbp display!) If I start the mac with the external display disconected I can't boot in mac OS nor in windows xp. I booted in verbose mode and this is the moment when it stops booting: http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/7295/dsc00977hw8.jpg And this is the problem when I try to boot from installation CD with the external monitor connected (disconnected did'n work): http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/5729/dsc00979wn2.jpg So I can't do anything! I tried to reset NVRAM and PRAM, I tried to reset SMC, but it's still the same. I tried to use the EFI Restoration 1.3 CD but it didn't read it. I think it's a EFI problem beacuse with the external monitor connected all works fine (in the external, not in the mpb), including 3D games. Is any method to restore the EFI to factory defaults when a EFI update was correctly done? Please I don't know what to do. Help! Superhai
To me it looks like hardware failure on your gfx out on your mbp. Anyway, take it to your dealer for service. marcianicoazul
but how is posible a hardware failure caused by software? isn't the hardware protected against software problems?
