any ideas?

is there something specific to those kexts for the acer that i need to modify to make it work on this dell

also if not anyone got this working on there 1501 want to repost those

heck repost them anyway if they work maybe these are corrupt or something

i know some users have said this works for the inspiron 1501

thanks

The only way I know of people getting OSx86 to work on the 1501 is via an external USB HDD. If someone knows of a way to modify the existing (Acer-based) kexts to get them working for our SATA chipsets and SATA HDDs, it would be greatly appreciated!!!

Here is how to:

1. Install any compatible version in VmWare - tried uphuck 10.4.9 and tubgirl 10.4.10

2. Download this kext - http://rapidshare.com/files/49196350/SATA.zip.html - modified ven id for Inspiron 1501

3. Boot os x in VmWare and:

- delete AppleVIAATA.kext

- install the kext from the link above

- repair permissions

4. boot os x native with -f parameter (when os x loads press F8 for boot options type -f and hit enter)

And .... it works.

wierd

installed uphuck 1.3 in vmware

booted and deleted AppleVIAATA.kext

downloaded the driver above installed it

repaired permissions in disk utility

rebooted native using -f as boot option but i still get "still waiting for root device"
