Explicit
First of all I like to thank Uphuck for making this all possible running and testing our PC's with Mac OSX. It's awesome!! It was a bit hard to install at first but once you know how to partition it the right way using the options (master boot selection) function putting the IDE drive on ACPI (in the bios) everything installs right, right? It was a problem many people were having getting only a cursor blinking at booting etc. Anyways....let's get to the point. I'm running Uphuck 1.3 DVD fine on this system and it's pretty fast and stable and all but there is only one big problem. When you look for MSN supporting chat programms you'll will find that there are bunch out there but there are only a few programs out there that are really worth it. They are called Amsn, Adium and Proteus (Fire? it's a bit buggy and not supported anymore). Ok, now I've also been trying Jas 10.4.8 and what I've been experiencing from it was that Amsn is running an outrageous 150 kb/s file transfer on it (excuse me 150 kb/s? YES!!! 150kb/s). Now this is not possible on Adium because Adium uses the ultra slow libgaim protocol (at least it seems like it) and it does not even reach 10 kb/s but it does deliver though. Uphuck, my question to you....would it not be very nice if you could make this populair msn file transfer problem dissapear and let Amsn-0.97RC1 run on your near future releases? It's also a very populair chat medium for Linux and I wonder why... Everything else works like a charm...great job...thx. ps: I've tryed to get the same results with Adium as I could not install Amsn even when trying to mount it manually. Amsn tries to load but stops loading leaving no error message on these 1.3 and 1.4i r2 releases. I've opened normal msn messenger ports (the main option in the firewall) but it still gives me a very slow transfer rates on Adium. Any suggestions on fixing this problem if there is a fix at all? thx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60120-amsn-097rc1-fast-150-kbs-file-transferadium-10kbs-wont-run-on-uphuck-releases-nomatter-what-i-try-and-ive-also-tried-mounting-it-manually/ Share on other sites
Asure
Well, i'm getting blazing speeds with Mercury Messenger here. Supports webcams also. You need to open one port for it to do fast transfers. I have it at ~100kbytes/sec w/o problems. I've tryed mercury as well with the same slow speeds while my msn ports 6891 - 6900 were set open in the firewall. So, I hope you opened up a different port that could solve the whole problem? thx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60120-amsn-097rc1-fast-150-kbs-file-transferadium-10kbs-wont-run-on-uphuck-releases-nomatter-what-i-try-and-ive-also-tried-mounting-it-manually/#findComment-428112 Share on other sites
