dixit
So I was updating my 10.4.8 to 10.4.10 and on the start it kernel panics and with the -v I noticed that it seems to be having an issue with the AppleACPIPlatform kext, Ive backed up the kext but trying to figure out how to replace it. If I get to the boot options and do a -s it just runs through like it did in -v and shows me the same error and I cant do anything from there, I want to be able to login to a prompt and make the necessary changes. Also tried to put in the 10.4.8 install DVD and then go to terminal from there but when I go to cp -R the file it tells me the /System/Library/Extensions is read only, basically I cant drive anything to that partition, how do I write? I cant even give a sudo -s command to let me login as a superuser, so Im lost here. dixit
Figured it out, using the terminal from the Install DVD I wrote fsck -y and was able to write the file.
