So I have a copy of Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2].iso file. I also burned it to a DVD, but the DVD does not boot anything, and after viewing it's contents, all it has is the following files:

BOOT.

BOOT.CAT

BOOT0.

BOOT1H.

BOOT1U.

BOOTHELP.TXT

CDBOOT.

CHAIN0.

Upon exploring the actual ISO those are the only files that are on it. Are these the correct files? My file size is about 4.7gb but unzipping those files only equates to about 128,130 bytes. What's going on?

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes you need to boot manually by letting your computer know that you wanna boot off the DVD drive there should be an option in your bios that gives you a boot selection menu cause from what im reading you have all the right files.

I just obtained another copy of that version, and it has the same exact files in it if I explore the file. Mactivist, can you open your image up in like WinZip or WinRar and tell me the contents? I'd really appreciate, or if anyone else knows whats going on please let me know.

I think the problem you have is the same problem i have...

If you open it with a program such as MagicISO you'll see that its not bootable, well thats the problem i have, and its got nothing to do with the file structure, which is why you couldn't see anything. What would be amazingly great is that if someone has got a bootable version of it then loaded it into a program such as MagicISO they could then export/save their boot file and then you and i and anyone else with the issue could just load the file into the image and BLAM bootable ISO.

I used VMware and loaded it with that, telling it to boot the ISO and it worked fiine, so i know thats the problem.

Simply put, every pc has an F10,F12,ESC, or some button that once started loads a boot screen, Try pressing one of these buttons RIGHT after your pc starts and maybe a boot menu will load. You should see something like, Boot-Cd/dvd, Hardrive, flashdrive/USB etc. It all depends on your setup/bios/and PC/Motherboard.

Select the CD/DVD option and then look to see if your cd/dvd loads, if it does you will see a dark/black screen saying "Darwin osx86 ......Press any key to boot from disk" PRESS ANY KEY, at that point or your pc could just restart, anyway if you get that far then you should just press "spacebar" and a long list of words will appear, if it does the disk/DVD is working fine, and Mac is loading, now this can take a LONG time, so sit back and relax, it could take up to 30min-1hr it all depends on your pc. Let it load, and then go through the regular setup-EX-Disk utilities--Select your HD--Partition then close and continue setup, select if needed additional drivers.

If you have problems from there, post back and preferably post some pics, or your full pc specs etc.

Good luck and sorry for all the extra info.
