If you were going to build a hackintosh out of a PC laptop what would be your choice

(Make & Model) and why?

I know some of you are experts out there and I would really like to hear from you.

It would be great to build one with a very good graphics card. If you have built one and/or

have knowledge of this subject I encourage you to share your expertise with the rest of us.

Thanks so much to all of you who take the time to share your knowledge with the rest of us who are lay men and women.

I have just Hackintoshed a Sony Vaio TX.

One of the tiniest laptops on the planet - a bit underpowered, but I was happy to pay the price to get a machine that I could slip into a document wallet.

Most important things work either out of the box or with a little hacking. Ethernet, I had to play with the plist, and to get the laptop's native screen to realise it had a widescreen mode I used SwitchResX. Otherwise, spot on. Graphics subsystem works beautifully, sound, disk controller.

Things that don't work - the wireless controller (the Intel 3945ABG is still unsupported, although people are working on a driver) and the SD and Sony media card slots (although I have yet to even try to get them to work - there might be a simple driver out there, I just haven't looked yet).

But in terms of just powering it on, and everything that needs to work, works - it's great, and far more portable than any Mac on the market.

I just got 10.4.8 running on my Inspiron 6000. With 1GB of ram, and a 60GB hard drive, it runs like a dream. Thanks to the guys that made the network selector app, I'm able to use my wireless card. Only two things stopping it from perfection though (Trackpad doesn't scroll;a lot of the kexts I've tried make it too touchy;and when I close my lid, the backlight shuts off, and when I open it, the backlight won't come back on).

Wish I knew how to fix that, but everything else works beautifully.

Thanks Loccy and FB, I really appreciate your help.
