Short: Please copy what you have in the IDE Configuration in your BIOS

Long: I used to have JaS 10.4.7 on my harddrive, but because I installed the sse2 on an sse3. I noticed it was running rather slow. So I installed 10.4.8, which I soon dislike because some lines of text still appear after I scroll on a browser.

I then installed Vista, Ubuntu, Fedora Core - formatting the former along the way.

Because of Acronis Disk Director, I was able to move the partition orders (which it does by moving sectors one by one in order on the harddrive)

Then I wanted to install OSx86 again, I don't know if the installation was just being sensitive for my partition errors or what

For example, when I get into PartitionInfo in PartitionMagic. I have an Error #114 for my logical drive:

Error #114: Logical starting at 248413160 is not one head away from EPBR.

and 2 #106 BeginSector errors in my disk geometry information

Error #106: Partition didn't begin on head boundary.

ucBeginSector expected to be 1, not 3.

PartitionMagic is pretty picky about this. But Acronis, cfdisk, gparted, and SpinRite are fine with them.

Tonight, I decided to look into my BIOS to see if I can try to fix it so I can install OSx86

At first, in IDE Configuration, it was setted as Enhance Mode and SATA

then I changed it to Enhanced Mode and PATA. But still no luck.

I would be appreciated if you can give me what you have on that screen.

If I don't hear from you, I will just try to reset all my settings and see what will happen.

Specs:

Asus P4P800 Deluxe Motherboard

200GB IDE HDD

NEC CD-ROM CD-3002A (Master)

LG HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4167B (Slave)

JaS 10.4.7

I will update tomorrow with my IDE Configuration screen if anyone finds it useful.

OK. i have the same board. and yes partition magic panicks with error 114 when it sees a primary AF partition ( osx)

you have to use diskpart from windows to avoid the scene.

well reg the bios settings, When I use enhanced mode, my osx dvd is not able to find the HDD.

So i did turn to "Compatible mode" and use the channel u have the OSX partition and the DVD Drive.

its also better if u disable other IDE ( extra CDROM / HDD) in this installation process.

Now u can proceed with the installation.

When the install is complete. u can again turn the bios to enhanced mode

My Bios is turned to Enhanced MOde + PATA.

Hope this helps.. ( btw am using uphuck 1.3 and 1.4i 10.4.9 dvd)
