marliwahoo
Is this your start-up hd ? - You can not partition the hd if you booted from it. Try booting with the install dvd or using acronis / partition magic. Sapam
Yes this is my bootup harddisk. I already have 4 partitions. I just want to erase/reformat the 3rd partition to "Mac ext journal" So, you mean if i boot from the install Dvd then i can format it ? Thanks a lot... i'll try it out today... as a backup i'll keep Partition magic too. boinkytwo
if you were not able to erase the fat32 partition under disk utility, i suggest that you mount it manually and try to erase it again. if you cant mount it, then better use a windows xp bootcd to delete the third partition, just delete it without formatting it. Just leave it as it is, meaning it is raw or unformatted, then boot your osx, run disk utility and re-attempt to erase the third partition and convert it to mac os journal. Sapam
I even tried using GParted bootdisk to do the partition... and tried to format the partition in OSX86. But all the options are grayed out except clean button on the lower left of the erase dialog/window of DiskUtility.
