subrogate
So, I read one thread that said an Athlon 3500 has SSE2... so why not Semperon. A hell of a lot of people use Athlon xp's... but the Semperons are my only other option for Socket A... I want OSx86. The Doc
Unfortunately I think you're outta luck on that note. Wait for income tax and see if you can't pick up a AMD 64, and a new mainboard. It'd be worth the upgrade. Even a lowly AMD 64 2800+ would be better than any Athlon XP. And truthfully, AMD has stopped all support for the older chips, and I don't think they're currently making/shipping any new ones now. See what you can do about the upgrade Cause then you should be able to get OS X no problem! Technobob
The socket A Semperon does not support SSE2, only 754pin socket supports it according to AMD's web site. Sorry but you will have to buy a new motherboard along with that new CPU if you want to run Mac X86 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5914-athlon-xpsemperon-a-no-go/#findComment-37260 Share on other sites
