Synaesthesia
The two main places you wanna look for information are the osx86 wiki, http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.8 and the genius bar, where there are sticky threads on getting various hardware to work. Your motherboard seems well supported, this is from the wiki: Works out of the box: PATA, USB. Works with easy patching: Audio (needs ALC888 installer), Network (needs this pinxue driver). Not tested: SATA Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59066-install-os-x-on-intel-dual-core-24-ghz/#findComment-420976 Share on other sites

mazataza
I have successfully installed OS X using VMware with Jas 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3 installation DVD (With PPF1 and PPF2) then I burn the image and want to install OS X on a real drive. I booted my computer using the burned DVD and setup run until I choose the language after that I got the following error: couldn't open the file OSInstall.mpkg. I have tried to open others package but it allways said it couldn't open .... the burnded DVD maybe currupted but not the ISO or there is something wrong else. I will try to burn another one. yesterday I couldn't burn one, because I have no empty one . I will buy today DVDs for burning. but I want to be sure if this a burning issue or not. If one have tips I will be happy. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59066-install-os-x-on-intel-dual-core-24-ghz/#findComment-422099 Share on other sites

Synaesthesia
That must be painful. I think it might still be corrupt though. If there's an option to validate your disk after burning, try that. Hope you get it right! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59066-install-os-x-on-intel-dual-core-24-ghz/#findComment-422294 Share on other sites

mazataza
i am not lucky. i have tried all burning programs and all give the same error, although they verify the burned data. what i am not understanding why the iso run without problem on vmware. I have tried to let Vmware to install it on a real partition, but the disk util doesn't see the partition, it always see my windows partition whatever I choose in vmware use the entry disk or indivuel partition. i have two partition 128 GB (windows) 20 GB (for Mac OS) I will try to download another iso. this will take 2-4 days. I have a second hardisk with linux on it. I use vmware to install os x on it directly and that goes well.now I have activated my network and Nvidia graphics and Audio.by the Audio I can only use stereo no 5.1. i used ALC888 installer. I have done all instruction described on how to install it.another question:how to activate the second CPU? the system see only one CPU.again i am very happy!PS:I use now safary to post this replay :Dit seem that it has find my second CPU:in system it see (1 Processor and 2 Core).the Audio problem still I have it. but sound work in stereo, that a good start I think Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59066-install-os-x-on-intel-dual-core-24-ghz/#findComment-423245 Share on other sites
