Andy Newman
Hello everyone, I'm trying to get Build 8f1111 running on my Dell inspiron 6000. Here's my specs: i915 motherboard ATI Radeon x300 64MB graphics card 512 MB Memory I have a windows NTFS partition, a second partition that I have 10.4.3 8f1111 installed on, and a partition with 10.4.1 running great. I'm using maxxuss' sse2 patch on my kernel. when I boot natively (from the 8f1111 partition), with the -x -v flags, a lot of text flows up the screen for approximately 15 seconds, then the screen goes blank as if it's trying to change resolutions, all activity stops. If I boot natively with the patched kernel without any flags, the gray Apple logo appears and soon all hard disk activity stops. When I boot under vmware using the patched kernel with or without any flags I get this message: Can anyone tell me what's going on? Technobob
You need to install from DVD native install you can't instsall using vmware from what I know. It has to do with PAE support and windows not being able to use it. PentM's have PAE but it's broken accourding to Intel. Try using these patches. I have installed 8F1111 with these patches and they worked great but I'm sticking with 8F1099 for now untill 8F1111 gets more stable for SSE2 users. 1111a SSE3 and SSE3 emulation No NX/DX Cpuid Fix RTC patch PPF http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=5709&hl= 1111A Install PPF (SSE3-SSE3-emulation-No NX/DX-Cpuid fix) http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=5710&hl= Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5905-boot-problems-on-pentium-m-dothan-sse2/#findComment-37208 Share on other sites
Andy Newman
Thanks for the info. I'll try Jas's patch. I did install 10.4.3 8f1111 natively by booting into 10.4.1, mounting the 10.4.3 ISO file from my windows partition, and installing to a third partition. When I boot into the fresh install is when I ran into problems. What is this RTC thing with Dell computers? Also, after I patch can I install from a mounted ISO under 10.4.1 like I did or do I need to boot from a physical DVD? Thanks!
