Mega Man
I'm using slackware, although I don't think that matters. I tried applying the grub-0.97-graphics.patch to a grub-0.97 source tarball, this did not work. It seemed to compare the grub files to those in a non-existant directory called grub-0.97-gfx (maybe described in the patch??) and instead of applying the new code, it took out said code and made it just like the ones in the existing grub folder. I tried to add in the changes by hand and then compiled it into a tgz (using src2pkg) and installed it. Grub works but there is still no splashimage support. Am I doing this right? I imagine that it's pretty easy to patch grub... Thanks beforehand! I'm sure it's just something small that I need someone to catch...
Mega Man
I gave up and assumed that the patch is for Debian based distros. I'm not really sure if this is true since grub loads before the OS and theoretically (at least to what I have deduced) the patch only modifies parts of the grub program itself. Thanks again for all the help. If there is a mod/staff around please delete this because it's not that useful. Hmm... Never seen a Slackware - splashimage/grub topic before...
