Dr. Hurt Posted August 3, 2007 Share Posted August 3, 2007 A local computer shop offered me a great deal on a gigabyte board called "GA-945GCMX-S2". It has a Realtek 8110SC Gigabit Ethernet controller and an ALC888 audio codec. I know the ethernet will work, but will audio work properly (in and out). I've heard many people having problems with ICH7+ALC888. Does anyone have a similar configuration working properly? (maybe a 945gz)?! Should I buy this board or get a different board with ALC883. Sorry, but this Board does not have the ALC888 chipset. Paranoid Marvin Posted August 12, 2007 Share Posted August 12, 2007 I am looking at getting a Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2. Looks like a good cheap mobo. Gigabyte's page confirms it has ALC888. Just a note for anyone looking at getting the Gigabyte GA-945GZM-S2. The same may look just the same, but in fact, this mobo on has a PCI-e slot a 4x - so it is one to avoid. Amazingly, I saw this board in a shop. 99% identical and £2 cheaper... I have the ToHLeox86 (Mac OS X 10.5.7) which has all the drivers that is needs but it dosent even see the sound card. (my setup is below) The only difference is I have a 6 port ALC883 setup.
