Tried Posted August 3, 2007 Share Posted August 3, 2007 as many of you would have known by now, intel has announced Extreme mobile processors meant for gaming laptops. The Core 2 Extreme X7800 is the first laptop CPU under the Extreme Edition brand which boast of speeds up to 2.66 per core. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on when apple would make the switch to these chips... would be a bummer if you bought your MBP anytime close to its release. squeeks Posted August 5, 2007 Share Posted August 5, 2007 doubt it, unless it runs as cool or cooler than the current 2.4ghz chip the mbp has very limited space, makeing it very hard to cool the cpu, and if you've ever used one you know it gets very very hot... i imagine that this chip is more for alienware systems and Dell XPS notebooks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
