xaser
Hi! This is my first post on this forums, and really glad that this great site is online. :-) Well, I would like to ask some help/advice about test installations... 1) By Now I was succesfull in instaling the 10.4.3 Jas patched version on a Toshiba A40 Notebook and it works like a charm. I would like to know, If a NEW version of OSX86 could be installed on this notebook since I have doubts because the installation guides only talk about 10.4.3 as compatible with Toshiba A40, but I wonder if the more recents versions than 10.4.3 could be also compatible or not because the info available is not clear about this issue. 2) Also I would like to know if there could be some advantage in upgrade from 10.4.3 to worth the mess of download a more recent patched OSX86 version (I have a 256k cable conn. so a DVD download may take days...), so I would like if I could worth make the efffort now before I start to custmonize+install more things+Customize more the OSX86 partition, since the OSX86 10.4.3 install is working fine. 3) I have a little Samsung Q1 UMPC and I would like to try also install OSX86 on it. :-D Well by now I started the installation with 10.4.3 JAS patched dVd, and it starts normal, but no matters if I already test the use of the following boot parameters: -s -f -x -v "Graphics Mode"="800x480x32" cpus=1 platform=X86PC -legacy the installation halt after start a process of detecting the USB devices with the following error: [HCIController][handleIdleTimeout] (sorry that I could not put more data but I have no idea on how to copy the log of the process that I may suppose is made on the Samsung Q1 process install, because is on the fly...) The Samsung Q1 have a integrated Touchscreen that seems that is access by the USB system because it is reported in that list, I also use the USB external DVD for the install dvd,and a external USB Keyboard+trackball. I already tried with the keyboard unpluged after give the boot parameters and also with unplugging and replug the external cdrom unit and keyboard before and meanwhile the system is frezze in order to see if I have luck and the USB detecting process reset and continues the installing but no luck. Since I am not a skillfull on OSX simple I now have no ideas about what more could be try in order to test if the installation could be made. However,I almost sure that is possible to install the OSX86 on this machine if only could be set to overpass the USB checking process, but no idea what more to do since I dont know about OSX internals tricks... By now I found info that OSX86 was installed with some success on ASUS and VAIO UX UMPC so I may suppose that may be possible on the Samsung Q1 too because them are somewhat similar computers...However, seems that the UX and the ASUS have no troubles with USB detection on the start of the process because seems that the installation program reaches the GUI, and the the install is continued as normal. Any help/suggestions are welcome. Thanks to all and best regards. :-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/58809-osx86-on-samsung-q1-umpc-and-toshiba-a40/ Share on other sites
