I installed OSX86 on a Pentium M. But forgot to check which model no.'s I have for ethernet, wifi, and sound. And I can't find them on the internet. Now I figure my best bet is to dual boot OSX and XP. I have the installation disk for XP. Now what? Do I need to do anything special?

The best config is having a partition for windows, after that a partition for mac os x, and then a fat32 partition (not so big) to swap files with (optional). If you didn't partition your hdd, you must start again...If you did partition your hdd, push f8 when you boot to be presented with a boot menu.

You can edit boot.plist to make a boot selector screen on startup.

So what you're saying, is that I have to do it all over again? I was just gonna try to use Parallels or BootCamp, to make a new windows partition/virtual drive. All i need from XP is to find what kind of drivers I need to install for OSX. :/

If you don't particularly care how fast Windows runs, you could use Parallels, but remember that it is a virtual machine and won't run as fast as if it is installed as a seperate OS, kinda depends on how fast your hardware is and what you need it for. And I don't think Boot Camp works with osx86.

What brand of PC do you have and are you able find its model number? Also, What kind of XP CD do you have? Is it the one from your computer's manufacturer or is it a retail CD? I would think that most of your stuff should be recognized with a retail CD, but if it came with your PC, then it should have all your drivers already on it.

Haha, I just tried Parallels, and it (for lack of a better word) broke my computer. (Can't do anything.) So, I'm currently just gonna do dual booting, its better anyways, considering that I can have two complete OS'es. And it's a Compaq Presario 2200. And it's a manufact. CD, so it'll go good. Thanks for the help. :D

I would do what Synaesthesia said.

Start from scratch:

Install XP on a Partition 1.

Then OS X on Partition 2

Maybe a Partition 3 formatted under FAT32 for a swapping area.

If you use this method Darwin will be your bootloader and you can access both OS's.

BTW where is the boot.plist? I've forgotten and need to edit mine.

woah, WEIRD problem. I followed a guide that told me to how to do everything, and installed xp, made a new partition, insalled OSX on that, and then used Acronis BootLoader (It said to in the tutorial, and I kinda liked it, it had a GUI haha). OSX wouldn't boot from Acronis, so I went and uninstalled it,

NOW im using Darwin's Bootloader, and if I don't have my UpHuck 1.3 Dvd in the drive, and press F8 in under 8 seconds, then in advanced booting, enter "rd=disk0s2" I can't boot into OS X.

With Disk in Drive:

- Total hassle.

- Can't boot into XP as far as I know? Haven't tried "rd=disk0s1"

- It's dumb.

- It's complicated.

- Darwin doesn't have a GUI.

Without Disk in Drive:

- Booting OS X via Darwin in (via "rd=....", not pressing anything, or selecting it in advance opts.) leads to a continuous Grey Apple Logo with the spinny thing.

- Can boot XP fine.

- Darwin still doesn't have a GUI!

SO, to sum up, what's wrong, how do I fix it, and is there any way to get a working GUI BootLoader, or even just two icons?

And to answer your question, Ace, I have no idea, I'm a newb. Sawwy. :[

EDIT: "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist" is dat da won? :/
