Mantrid
I'm dual booting Vista and OS X (I'm now trying to use JaS 10.4.8), and I'm using Vista's bootloader with chain0. The problem is, I don't think I'll be able to boot OS X unless I can use the -legacy flag, since that is the only way I can get the 10.4.8 dvd to boot. (10.4.9 doesn't want to work on my system.) When I choose the OS X option in the boot loader, it appears to start to load, but then returns to the boot menu. How can I add flags to it? Is there something I can do in the boot.ini file? time ed
No, its none of that. Its the Darwin bootloader. This bit caught me too. At the Vista bootloader, select OSX, hit enter, then immediately hit F8. If you hit it just right, that will get you into the Darwin bootloader. Once you've booted into OSX, open a terminal and : sudo vi /Library/System/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist down arrow the cursor to the timeout line, right arrow the cursor over the 5, hit x to delete the 5, left arrow once, hit a, then input some value like 60. Hit esc, shift-colon, type wq, hit enter. Exit. That should do it. Oh, and just to be safe after you fix the file, in a terminal: sudo diskutil repairPermissions / (I'm still confused about the right time to run this command, but I think its saved me some grief) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/58585-using-boot-flags-when-booting-with-chain0/#findComment-418236 Share on other sites
