Alessandro17
This how-to is meant for openSUSE 10.2 Install smart from the DVD (but not smart-gui yet) Now upgrade it to smart-latest.rpm: for 32bit: # rpm -Uvh http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/suser-guru/smart/10.2/i586/smart-latest.rpm for 64bit: # rpm -Uvh http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/suser-guru/smart/10.2/x86_64/smart-latest.rpm The most relevant repos are already there. (You can also install RPMs with Kpackage, instead of the command line, but you need to install it first, from the DVD: kdeadmin3). Next: # smart update # smart install smart-gui From there it is easy to enable/disable channels (Edit-> Channels). I have the kde-community and gnome-community channels disabled. If you want a really rock-solid system disable suse-kde as well. Leave only suse-kde-backports enabled. Everything else should be safe enough. (For those who don't know: # means what should be done as root).
