hixeldice
i just got uphuck's 1.4 distro of 10.4.9 installed. here's my system: athlon 64 (san diego) 4000+ soltek k8t800 mobo 1gb pc3200 ram 160gb eide HD 80gb eide HD SATA DVD-RW EIDE DVD-RW i installed onto the 80gb drive (the 160gb one has vista on it) using the EIDE dvd-rw, had already set up chain0 in boot.ini. the install went fine, i selected the appropriate packages when it restarted my computer, it got to the part of the POST where it checks the IDE devices, and after it detects my HDs, it just freezes, won't respond to anything. the diagnostic LED thing on my mobo says "75" which i'm assuming is 0x75, but i have no clue what this hex refers to. if i unplug the 80gb drive that osx86 is installed on, everything POSTs fine and i can boot into vista. the drive was working fine before i installed osx on it. any clues? i searched but couldn't find much. i'd run HD diagnostics on it, but the bios refuses to POST with the drive attached. i tried it alone in a different computer and i had the same problem. BJMoose
You might want to d/l uphuck's latest, specifically geared toward AMD processors...1.4a. Is your installer the original 1.4 (4.3gb) or is it 1.4i (the i stands or intel only)? Just checking. hixeldice
nope, it's the original 1.4. the install went fine, and there were AMD packages in the package list in the installer, so i'm assuming i had the right one. i'd try and reinstall with 1.4a or even 1.3, but i can't get my machine to post with the drive i'm using for OSX - any suggestions on that? if i can get it to a console prompt, i can probably fix it. naddy69
Did you partition the drive with Disk Utility? Sounds like it's using GUID instead of MBR. Boot the install DVD and run Disk Utility. Select your drive and choose Partition. At the bottom there is an Options button. Under this select Master Boot Record. Re-partition and re-install. Dalant
i had to hook up my drive to another computer and erase it (can be done with a utility like Darik's Boot and Nuke or Ultimate Boot CD). Then install again using naddy69's method and all will be well.
