artdog
Not sure if this is the correct forum for this so please move it if I made the wrong choice. I am running OSX 10.4.8 on a non apple system. I have a Seagate 3200 IDE drive in an external case connected via USB. The drive is a 200 gb drive. I erased it using the OSX disc utility and it came out as 128 gb. I can't figure out why OSX only sees the drive as 128 gb. I don't want to loose this much HD space. The drive always formatted to about 190 gb in Windows XP. Anyone know what is going on here? abhi262
what filesystem did you format it as? as since 128 is a very round base 2 number (i.e. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512 etc.), it is possible that you chose a file system that doesn't allow for storge bigger than 128 gigabees Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/58415-external-hd-formatted-too-small/#findComment-417587 Share on other sites
