I heard a rumour that Microsoft are looking at ways to tie Windows Server licensing to onboard TPM chips. If so that would put them on a par with Apple.

 

Anyone else heard this one?

 

It's not as far-fetched as it might seem; a lot of commercial hardware destined for back office or server farm environments is fitted with TPM chips already. IBM/Lenovo has been embedding Infineon TPM systems in most of their desktops and many of their laptops for a long time but they're disabled by default in the BIOS.
