r911 Posted July 28, 2007 Share Posted July 28, 2007 Hey Guys, Up until a couple of weeks ago I never really looked at this. However I came across a piece of software that is only available for the Mac. Mac + software is $4000+. So I need to get some confirmation first. Then I found all this OSX86 stuff, reaaly interesting but I am getting more and more confused. There are so many installs, one tells this the other that... I am now downloading uphuck_10.4.9_Intel_x86_install_dvd_v1.4i_r2_-_bizkut.3752309.TPB (1.06 GB). I understand it is intel only, which is ok, is this download ok? And when it finishes what am I supposed to to with it. Ideally I would like to put OSX86 on an external hd, will it boot through the USB? And what about the file I am downloading, what am I supposed to do with it? Are there any installation guides available for this download? I am on windows xp, do I just have to unpack this file, write it to a dvd and reboot on the dvd? If I do this what will happen? I just don't wanna mess up windows XP! Thanks! ergosteur Posted July 30, 2007 Share Posted July 30, 2007 well, personally i haven't tried uphuck yet, but for the Jas 10.4.8, i always create an unformatted partition first (with Acronis or partitionmagic) then boot the burned dvd. then i use the disk utility from the utilities menu to format the partition, then install also, i've never actually installed to a usb disk, but i have installed 10.4.8 to my laptop hard drive, then put that drive in a usb enclosure and booted it ok, except that spotlight doesn't work.
