Kamikaze_Cheese
Hello, I am having great difficulties updating 10.4.1 to 10.4.10. I can't download the ISO of 10.4.10, because i don't have enough downloads left this month (i am on a 12GB per month shaped plan). I have tried using the "MacOSXUpd10.4.10AMD.mpkg.zip" file that came in the "10410update.zip" archive, that i downloaded from TPB, After installing, it says An error occurred, and to restart the installation. When i restart the computer, it won't boot, probably because of a kernel problem, it just keeps going back to the Bios screen, over and over again. I reinstalled OSX and tried installing the "mach_amd.bz2" and "dsmos.kext" files that are contained in the "10410update.zip" archive, these are the manual installation files. Once I extracted mach_amd.bz2 and moved it to /, i noticed that i couldn't boot anymore (yes, I renamed the mach_amd to mach_kernel, and renamed the original mach_kernel to mach_old), once again, with a kernel problem i assume. Has anyone got a quick solution that can install this without me having to download GBs of data in the process? I would also like to know if it is possible to get the Realtek 8201CL Ethernet adaptor working with OSX, I have tried the "forcedeth" kexts to no avail. Thanks, Andrew Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/58264-updating-osx-1041-x86-to-10410/ Share on other sites
BJMoose
As far as I know, there isn't a direct update path from 10.4.1 to 10.4.10. I've only tried from 9 to 10 and I've read where others have gone from 8 to 10. Haven't heard anything from anyone directly updating from an earlier version. My guess is you'll have to first install 8 before upgrading. Guest Ramm
I'm assuming you have AMD, based on the packages you installed. There is a 10.4.10 release on The Pirate Bay that should work fine. Search for "AMD Test 1" on TPB. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/58264-updating-osx-1041-x86-to-10410/#findComment-416240 Share on other sites

Is it possible to update from 10.4.1 to 10.4.8 etc, by updating 10.4.1 to 10.4.3 etc? I just want to be able to install post-10.4.1 software on it, like Parallels Desktop etc. As i said, I don't want to download GBs of data. And i don't think its tolerated here. Please don't attempt to Hijack threads. Mods, please close this topic, as i have solved it by downloading a 10.4.8 DVD, and patched 10.4.8 to 10.4.10 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/58264-updating-osx-1041-x86-to-10410/#findComment-420389 Share on other sites
