aieks
I have set aside a 10 GB partition with acronis to install osx86. Downloaded Jas 10.4.8. Burnt the image, thought i was good to go. When i try to boot the dvd i get a black screen, and a blinking cursor at the top left corner. I thought maybe it has something to do with me booting from a cd through acronis os selector on startup? So i tried booting the dvd on a laptop, same thing. I don't think it's a hardware issue but i could be wrong. Is it just the dvd or the image or is this a common issue?? thanks,
kannannn
i think u need to live it like that, sometimes it takes a good 30 mins to go out of that screen.. good luck
aieks
30 minutes? is it even worth that wait cuz it takes 30 minutes just to boot the dvd, i can't imagine the OS to run any better?
Guest Ramm
Try changing the jumper settings on your DVD drive.
aieks
it boots... its just as if the installer doesnt go, so it can't be the jumper settings if its the same on 2 computers.
boinkytwo
set your drive to dma mode from the bios.
aieks
it's set to dma if available mode 2 i believe i appreciate the suggestions but im starting to give up i hate when its not even an issue of a program error or a hardware failure, it just won't...go. it doesn't even tell me anything is wrong, i hate when things like that happen. MoDs
Check the following: - HDD and DVD are on the same cable; HDD master, and DVD slave. - Disable S.M.A.R.T & Hyperthreading from BIOS, if applicable. - Upgrade your BIOS (check out your mobo vendor's website)
