softfiz
Ok, so I was given a copy of the Uphuck v1.3 DVD. Anyhow, I went to install in on my AMD computer, NF4, Nvidia, etc. I used an old 27gb IBM Deskstar for the install. The Mac install screen came up and I was able to get to the disk manager to format the 27gb drive to a format recognizable by OSX. I then proceeded to install the OS, I selected the right addons for my system, everything went well, it was on it's way and then after complete it restarted, as it said it was going to. Here's where it get's weird. Now the BIOS screen just hangs after it detects the 27gb drive. No matter if I unplug every single other drive from my IDE chains, the BIOS comes up, see's the drive, then stops, and that's it, it never gets anywhere past that. If I unplug the drive, it boots to whatever other HD I have plugged in. Also, if I wait until after the BIOS screen and quickly plug the 27gb drive in, I can get windows to see it's there, but of course as it's not a compatable file format I cna not access the drive. IBM Disktools also see's the drive in DOS. So the drive is "good" I suppose, however, if it's plugged in, the BIOS simply wont complete the post. Doesn't matter what chain I use or what jumper settings I use. Anyone else had this problem? softfiz
Well, so I decided to give this another go with a DIFFERENT drive. So I took an old 10gb IBM Deskstar I had lying around and installed, same as before, everything went well and completed. Rebooted, and what happened? Hangs at the BIOS screen. Now mind you, BOTH of these drives would post and boot just fine prior to Mac OSX install being completed, now BOTH of these drives create the system to hang at the BIOS screen, it doesn't get past the post screen until you unplug the drive and reboot the machine. Both drives have been on both chains, with all three jumper settings (Master, Slave, CS). I am currently using a DFI NF4-DR motherboard, all I can assume is something with the BIOS software or the way the motherboard works is creating this issue. If anyone has experienced anything like this, let me know. CoolBits
Choose the MBR option when partitioning and formatting... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57958-very-strange-problem-after-installation/#findComment-414600 Share on other sites
Guest Ramm
If you use GUID scheme when partitioning, it will "screw up" your partitioning table. Like the poster above me said, you have to use MBR schemes.
